Improve Your Smile's Appearance

If you have concerns about the aesthetic appearance of your smile, your dentist may recommend porcelain veneers. Veneers can be used to correct the appearance of teeth that are stained, misaligned, or chipped.

Porcelain veneers are thin pieces of porcelain moulded to fit your teeth and then attached to the front surface of a tooth with the aim of improving its appearance.

Our dentists at Live Well Dental customize your veneers to fit the size and shade of your natural teeth. They are then applied permanently to your natural teeth using dental cement and ultraviolet light.

Dental veneers can last for many years if cared for properly through proper oral health care at home and routine visits to the dentist for dental examinations and hygiene cleanings.

How Veneers Work

During your initial consultation, your dentist will guide you in choosing the right shade so that the veneers match the surrounding teeth. A teeth whitening treatment can be performed before the veneers are placed for a brighter smile.

After consultation, the tooth surface is reshaped, and an X-ray of the tooth to be treated is taken. Then, your customized veneers are made in a laboratory.

In two to four weeks, when your veneers are ready, a small portion of your enamel will be removed. Cleaning, polishing, and etching follow to allow the adhesive to bond properly with the tooth.

Dental cement is applied to the tooth, and the veneer is placed over it. The cement is quickly cured using ultraviolet light. Slight adjustments can be made after checking your bite for a perfect fit.

Am I eligible for dental veneers?

If you are looking to alter the shape of individual teeth or the evenness of your whole smile, you may want to consider dental veneers as a less intrusive alternative to dental crowns.

Your dentist will assess your teeth to determine whether veneers are the best option for changing the appearance of your smile.

Patients with weakened enamel and gum disease are not ideal candidates for this treatment, but other cosmetic dental options can be explored.

Veneers are delicate and can chip or break with improper care. Let your dentist know if you have habits like teeth grinding or nail-biting. They could affect the success of your treatment.
